Fashion Month is a busy four-weeks in the fashion and beauty industry with the first at New York, then London, then Milan, and finally stopping all the way in Paris. There are so many amazing shows going on that even with all of the deep, in the know and extensive coverage, it can be difficult to consume it all and you always end up missing something.
New York fashion week is when we first start to see the next season trends emerging and by the end of Paris fashion week we know what trends are here to stay for the season and what ones we might not see so much of. So with New York and London down..here are the emerging trends so far!
Rhianna truly is to thank for making the athleisure sporty spice look fashionable and trendy this season. She most certainly has proven herself as a designer with fans and even critics being impressed with her latest Fenty Puma collection. Complete with spandex one pieces, skin-tight biker shorts, lots of bright colours. Let’s just say tack pants are no longer a fashion faux pas, Kendall and GiGi will be pleased! This trend is already trickling down to the high street too! Wear a bright or monochrome pair of track pants with a simple bodysuit or a cropped knit jumper for a more casual chill look.
Orange Orange Orange
Move over Pink, Orange is the new black and it’s shining bright! Tom Ford gave us a beautifully bright Orange trench coat; a classic autumn style with a colour makeover. Where as Calvin Klein stuck to orange and colour statements in moderation. A style tip with this one that I’ve noticed in the trend is to keep the rest of the outfit monochrome to not overdo it. Keep the orange element the statement of the outfit!
Romantics in Modern Day
An ongoing return of spring florals, pastel hues and dainty ruffles. Zimmermann owned this trend on the catwalk bringing us Victorian inspired silhouettes and delicate patterns in full blossom. Brock Collection brought Marie Antoinette vibes in the form of corsets in the 21st century on his catwalk. You can style a look like this with a trendy satin duster coat in a pastel or light colour with a distressed jean. This will just scream that perfect mix between urban and classic girly fashion. Be expecting to see these beautiful 18th and 19th century inspirations in stores when Spring 2018 rolls around.
Global Inspired, eccentric print mixes are all the rage on the catwalk right now. Especially at the Marc Jacobs show where models were dressed practically as well as fashionably. This included elements such as oversized coats mixed with neon colours, belt bags and chunky thick knitted scarfs. This look will certainly be out of a lot of fashion lovers’ depth. However I think it will be a fashion risk that will pay off and soon we will all be wearing oversized neon prints.
Panels and Patches
Modelled incredibly by lots of runway shows, especially appearing at London Fashion Week, panels are no longer second hand drab and patches are a fashion must. Fashion East to the put together fashion look to a whole new level and Preen by Thorton Bregazzi tied in the pastel trend to create a fashion killer creation. This trend is a DIY fashion lover’s dream with a project just waiting to happen. To style start small with patches on denim and jackets until you’re making your own patchwork creations with granny on a Sunday.
Drawstrings have been a popular athleisure element for the past few seasons however this London Fashion Week has kicked the trend up to a whole new level. Drawstrings on cuffs, trousers, jackets, skirts and tops in all their glory. Peter Pilotto pulled it all together with some pink track pant trousers and a body suit in his runway collection. As well as Mary Kantranzou showing us that multiple drawstrings aren’t always a faux pas. My favourite way to style a drawstring at first is on a paperbag trouser. It is also a great element to spice up a simple shirt. Check out my latest OOTD for a style steal on this look!
It is easy to make a statement when you are covered in silver, glitter, shine and sequins. With plenty of silver options to choose from you can work this look a little or a lot. Choose one statement silver like Versus Versace who went with a sultry staple silver biker jacket with a complimentary and equally as fashion check print skirt. Or go for the silver overload Nicopanda who look silver space suit to a whole new level.
I would love to do a lookbook on my style interpretations of these trends when they trickle down to the high street very soon. Either as a collective trend post or in a series. I love styling new trends and I love helping you guys get inspired to style them as well. I mean not all of us can rock a bundle of an oversized coat like the Marc Jacobs models but that is what trickle down is all about right? Let me know if this is something you dolls would be interested in via my social medias. I love getting feedback and suggestions and just having a fashion chat with you babes so get in touch.
